NEW LITTER MONITORING CONTRACT
TES Consulting Engineers are delighted to announce that they
have been awarded the new contract as the Litter Monitoring
Body for 2003 and 2004. As the National Litter Pollution Monitoring
System develops, the Project Team envisage the targets of the
Litter Monitoring Body as being:
- To ensure that the system is being implemented within all
local authorities, according to procedures described in the
Monitoring Manual;
- To increase the use and functionality of the National Litter
Pollution Monitoring System within local authorities. To incorporate
additional items of information which may aid litter management,
for example the mapping of litter bins on the Litter GIS;
- To promote the National Litter Pollution Monitoring System
within local authorities and to the general public. The aim
of the Litter Monitoring Body in this respect would be to
highlight the proactive innovative approach being undertaken
by local authorities with regard to litter management;
- To encourage information sharing between local authorities
through presentation of case studies, the co ordination of
a National Conference on Litter Management and the maintenance
of the www.litter.ie website;
- To assess Litter Survey Results on an annual basis, providing
insights as to how the primary causative factors of litter
pollution may be resolved.
